The preparation, spectroscopic properties and crystal structure of a tetranuclear copper(II) resorcinarene-based complex with the cap-bpa ligand [cap = resorcinarene-based cavitand, bpa = bis(pyridyl)methylamine] are reported. The orientation of each (bpa)Cu fragment in the complex is perpendicular to the cap bowl.
