Source of material Am ixture of 5-methoxyisophthalic acid (0.2 mmol), 1,2-bi(4pyridyl)ethane (bpa, 0.1 mmol), Co(OAc) 2 · 2H2O(0.2 mmol), KOH (0.10 mmol) and H 2 O(15 mL) was placed in aTeflon-lined stainless steel vessel, heated to 160°Cfor 3days, and then cooled to room temperature over 24 h. The key challenge in purposeful construction of novel MOF materials depends particularly on appropriate cluster cores and bridging ligands.
