This manuscript describes a laboratory practice for chemistry teaching, it consists in determination of manganese percentage (m/m) in battery using digital images obtained with a flatbed scanner. 100 mg of battery were digested in nitric acid and oxidized to MnO 4 using IO 4 -. Calibration solutions were prepared by successive dilutions of a KMnO 4 solution.
