The article consists of an analytical survey of the architectural monuments of Ekaterinburg, together with the historic towns of Verkhoturye and Nevyansk. In Vekhoturye the article focuses on the first half of the 18th century and the Trinity Cathedral in particular, but attention is also devoted to the Monastery of St. Nicholas and its Cathedral of the Elevation of the Cross, a major work of early 20th-century Russian church architecture.
