Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, dust particles or biological substances into the atmosphere. Air pollutants are able to drastically alter the physico-chemical structure of the atmosphere, leading to effects due to spatial extent, assuming a broad expression. ... mosphere behaves like a reservoir of pollutants that are transported from one region to another and taken over by other environmental levels. The effects of air pollution are represented by profound changes of the biocenoses and lead to the alteration of the health of the population. The main air pollutants are known, the negative effects produced on plants, animals and humans, the reactions that take place in the body and the sources of origin. That is why the fight for fresh air is currently a cause for concern worldwide. Air pollution is the most important problem, due to the absence of efficient systems for filtering harmful substances, abusive deforestation and insufficient green spaces in cities. Air pollution attacks children, the elderly and those suffering from certain conditions, which at first glance have nothing to do with the air they inspire. The paper presents the results obtained from a monitoring of the suspended powders, the PM10 fraction, realized near the most important traffic lanes of the Tg –Jiu municipality. The comparison of the obtained results was made according to the Order M.A.P.M 592/2002.
