Mathematical models of breakage processes are composed of partial integro-differential equations. For process optimisation and controller synthesis, a low-order model is preferred. A wavelet-based model reduction procedure is proposed. A multi-resolution (wavelet) approach is employed to achieve a set of high-order ordinary differential equations. A procedure which is motivated by the theory of singular perturbation is then proposed for the construction of approximate inertial manifold.
