Corrosion Inhibition Effect of Cefotaxime Sodium on Mild Steel in Acidic and Neutral Media

The expired antibiotic cefotaxime sodium (CEF) was investigated as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1.0 mol/L H3PO4 and 0.6 mol/L NaCl solutions. Corrosion behavior was studied via the open circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy.
