The effect of ganıma irradiation on the development of infective larvae of Trichostrongylus vfrtmus m gWnea pigs and irradiated vaccine trial against this parasite. Summary: Infective larvae of T. vitrinus were treated with gamma radiation doses rif 20.000, 4°.000, 60.000, 80.000 and 100.000 rads. Inactivation by gamma irradiation was manifested by a reduction in the total number rif worms recovered post mortem, the survival qf more females than males and a greatly reduced production rif eggs by the females. A group of guinea pigs which 24 days eariier had received larvae irradiated with a dose of 60.000 rads was challenged with 5000 normal larvae and the immunity stimulated by irradiated larvae was investigated. Control animals and a group rif guinea pigs which had been given a dose of normal larvae 24 days eal'lier were challenged at the sametime. A strong immıtnity was observed in all groups which had received the primary dose rif either irradiated or normal larvae. Özet: T. vitrinus enJektif larvaları 20.000, 4o.000, 60.000, 80.000 ve 100.000 rad dodarda gamma irrat.lya,ryona tabi tutulmuş, verradyasyonun bu larvaların gelişimine etkisi kobaylarda denenmiştir. Normal ve irradiye edilmiş larvalar kobaylara verildikten, i 4 gün sonra hayvanlar öMürülerek toplanan parazitler sayılmıştır. Gamma irrat.lya,ryonun, otopside elde edilen toplam parazit sayısını azalttığı görülmüştür. Elde edilen parazitlerin de daha fok dişi parazit olduğu, erkek parazit sayısının azaldığı, ayrıca dişi para;:.itlerin yumurta üretiminin de önemli ölfüde düştüğü gözlenmiştir . •••Dr.med.vet. A.Ü.
