The production of low-mass dielectrons is measured with ALICE at the LHC in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions. The dielectron yield in p-Pb collisions in comparison to the expected hadronic cocktail shows an overall reasonable agreement. The production of direct virtual photons, visible as an excess over the hadronic cocktail, in Pb-Pb collisions is measured in two transverse momentum ranges. A feasibility study for the future LHC Run 3 indicates that it should be possible to extract an effectivedoi:10.1088/1742-6596/832/1/012036 fatcat:ird57ynduvbzjfctqttj7toh5a
