Content Analysis of ACRL Conference Papers

This study examines the content of papers presented at the second, third, and fourth national conferences of the Association of College and Research Libraries. An analysis of the papers presented at the first national conference revealed that one-third of them were research reports. Given that ACRL has initiated a series of activities designed to encourage the research pursuits of its members in the time period under study, it is our hypothesis that the second, third, and fourth conference

Using the first study as a baseline against which future conferences can be compared, we examined papers presented at subsequent conferences using the technique developed by Pauline Atherton for analyzing research methods· in the published literature of information science.
