CFD Analysis of Exhaust Manifold for Different Designs

The exhaust manifold as a simple part of the engine plays an important role for automotive industry, and it significantly effects on efficiency and performance of the engine depending on various parameters of the manifold such as material type and geometric sizes of the manifold. more » ... tational fluid dynamic (CFD) analyses were performed by using ABAQUS V6.13 software with importing manifold solid model from SOLIDWORKS software. Three different fluid materials as gasoline, alcohol and LPG were used in the fluid flow analyses for each manifold. Variation of pressure, velocity and temperature was numerically explored at different points of the manifolds. Results showed that exhaust manifold with type A exhibited higher pressure compared with type A exhaust manifold with indicating that performance and efficiency of engine can be improved by designing the manifold with respect to type A manifold.
