Based on a case study, we analyzed 16 Virtual and Learning Environments (VLE) belonging to six university professors. We set professor usage patterns of VLE. We conducted quanti-qualitative analysis based on surveys, interviews, in situ observation of virtual spaces and focus groups. Using a triangulation of these methods, we could achieve system validity and reliability of the research work. Following this methodology, we have shown similar patterns of the use of VLE in the courses taught by

The research is developed at Rovira and Virgili University in Tarragona, Spain. The data for analysis obtained from the VLE of the professors of the School of Electronic Engineering in Industrial Control Network of the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo (for its acronym in Spanish, ESPOCH) of Riobamba, Ecuador. We believe that the methodology proposed could be extrapolated to any educational reality supported by virtual environments.
