Mudga or green gram is one of the most commonly used components of Indian cuisine. A majority of the Ayurvedic lexicons opine that it is the best among all pulses and advocate its use in everyday diet. Excerpts from Ayurveda and recent research based studies showcase it as a potential interventional diet in Cardio vascular and lifestyle disorders. This review throws light on some of the important aspects of Mung bean as an effective lifestyle intervention in a wide spectrum of disorders.
