The authors think that knowledge of the standard sizing system and one , s own body size is fundamental to the ability of good wearing and c ! othing habits . The purpose of this study was to observe the degree of thisknowledge among senior high school students , in order to develop a strategy for clothing and textile education . more » ... zing system was given to 561 students in 1990, From 1991 to l992 , body measurements were taken of 376 students who had prevjously replied to the questionnaire about their body size , The results were as follows : 1 Most students did not know what clothing size ! abels actually referred to . Students were not able to assess the degree of their knowledge on labeling . 23 4 Students did not know either their own body size or body type. Students claimed to be conscious of clothing size when they chose clothes but they did not have the ability to choose based on assured knowledge . Students did not have an effective source of information on the standard sizing system . Even home economics education
