In the late 1980s, researchers noticed that some managers were better than other managers at accomplishing goals through social networks (Kotter, 1990) . Other economics and management scholars found, that certain patterns of connections, which individuals build with others, enable them better jobs, higher salary, promotions and overall greater career success (Granovetter, 1974; Burt, 1992) .
