The increased power of the Internet, advances in authoring software, and the availability of sophisticated content management systems (CMS) have enabled instructional designers, educators, and teachers, to create flexible learning environments that use advanced pedagogies based on active learning, collaboration, multiple perspectives and knowledge building.
