Progress in the modeling of H- and D- ion sources

We present a self-consistent approach for solving at the same time the vibrational kinetics, the electron kinetics and the plasma chemistry in magnetic multicusp sources and compare, for H2 plasmas, our theoretical results with the available experimental ones for different quantities (vibrational distribution, electron density, atomic and negative ion concentrations). Moreover for the same experimental conditions discussed for H2 we report the results derived applying our model to the
more » ... n of a D-volume source. In both cases we used quite recent data to describe the relevant interactions occuring in H2, D2 plasmas.
