To upgrade a safety interlock system, a restricted area was converted into an accessible area at an operating condition. To judge the necessity for an additional shield design, -ray and neutron dose distributions were measured in the linac, booster synchrotron, L3BT, and New SUBARU (NS) areas. In the linac, chicane was found to be the main source of rays.
