THE following case is, I believe, the only instance on record in which a patient has recovered after the removal by a surgical operation of a needle from the heart. J. E--, set. 31, a pewterer, during a struggle in a public house missed a needle which he had placed in the left side of his coat, and he fancied that it must have entered his chest.
