The experiments here recorded were carried out under the supervision of Prof. W. Lash Miller in the chemical laboratory of the University of Toronto during the winter of 1909-1910, in order to supply further evidence as to the connection between the toxicity of phenol solutions containing salts and the chemical potential of the phenol in them, and in the hope of finding an explanation of the results obtained by Lemon1 with 0.6 percent phenol solutions.
