The group of enzymes collectively called glucosyltransferases (GTF) plays an important role in dental plaque formation and colonization of cariogenic bacteria on the tooth surface. Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus are predominantmutans streptococcispecies presented in the human oral cavity.
