BACKGROUND According to the WHO, osteoporosis is one of the most important noncommunicable diseases worldwide. Different screening procedures are controversially discussed, especially concerning the concomitant issues of overdiagnosis and harm caused by inappropriate Dual X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA).
