Ducks is one of the alternative foodstuffs that can be consumed to support of the community nutritious needs. At present community health awareness is increasing. People need foodstuffs derive from animal, especially poultry with low fat concentration such as total cholesterol. This study was designed to determine the concentrations of cholesterol and body weight at the Peking duck (Anas plathyrinchos) after giving Lannea coromandelica leaf extract. Experimental design used was Completely
more » ... as Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisted of 3 experimental groups, each consisted of 5 rats. 1) P1 = ducks as a control, 2) P2 = ducks given water extract of Lannea coromandelica 12 mL / day / kg body weight, 3) P3 = ducks given ethanol extract of Lannea coromandelica 5 mL / day / kg body weight. Data were Analyzed using analysis of variance test at 5% significance level, and a further test using SAS 9.1.3 Duncan. The results showed that total cholesterol blood concentrations at the peking ducks given water extracts of Lannea coromandelica laeves was lower (P <0.05) when compared with peking ducks given ethanol extract of Lannea coromandelica leaves, but the same as the control. Body weight peking ducks given water extract of Lannea coromandelica leaves and the ethanol extract of Lannea coromandelica leaves the same with controls. It was concluded that giving of water extract Lannea coromandelica decreased concentrations of total blood cholesterol, and normal body weight at the Peking ducks.
