The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of the formation of the image of a modern soldier in the Russian media. The author outlined the relevance, significance, purpose and hypothesis of the study. Theoretical aspects of the phenomenon of image, in particular, the image of employees of executive authorities and military personnel are considered. more » ... rder to detail these results, an attempt was made to compare the news content about the military personnel of the Russian Federation in the State publication "Russian Newspaper" and the non-State publication "Kommersant." As a result of the study of publications for the period from 2017 to 2019, it was concluded that the image of a modern soldier is not individualized, and the focus of image-forming moduses is made by publications mainly at the entire institute of military service. At the same time, in the first case, it is not a social institution ensuring the security of the country, but a public structure whose subjects constitute a resource for ensuring the security of the world (inter-ethnic) scale. However, in the face of contemporary political instability in the world, the feasibility of such a resource is undeniable. In the second case, the context of an idealized institution in the Russian media, close to civil society, ready to protect its country remains.
