A volumetric flask is a piece of laboratory apparatus that is used to make solutions with very accurately known concentrations. Many references describe that a funnel should be used to transfer a solution from a beaker to the volumetric flask so as not to spill the solution. We think, however, that the solution of the beaker can be easily transferred without the funnel because the beaker has an indentation in its mouth.
