The paper presents the retail market in Romania, the main retailers and their evolution in our country, especially focusing on the tendencies regarding the customers' preferences for one format or another. The purpose of this paper was to examine and interpret how Romanian retailers evolved in customers' habits and what changes appeared related to their needs and demands.
