In high range resolution radar systems, the detection of range-spread target under correlated non-Gaussian clutter faces many problems. In this paper, a novel detector employing an autoregressive (AR) model is proposed to improve the detection performance. The algorithm is elaborately designed and analyzed considering the clutter characteristics.
