In this paper, we discuss an evaluation experiment of the crime deterrent effect in hot spots patrol of the crime by the police. In recent years, a number of studies in foreign countries have argued that hot spots policing can be effective in reducing crime. However, the number of crimes and city environment are different from Japan and foreign countries. Our study attempted empirical experiments for crime deterrent in our country. more » ... in Nagano prefecture, the hot spots were identified by crime prediction methods. Next, in order to assess the crime deterrent effect, we conducted hot spots patrol by the police. Finally, we detect statistically significant crime reduction in hot spots area.
