A Case Study of Liberal Arts Classes for the Development of Evaluative Thinking in University Students

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of the development of evaluative thinking among university students through liberal arts classes. To this end, I reviewed literature on the definition of concept and development methods of evaluation thought was reviewed. Cases of liberal arts classes at A University for the development of evaluative thinking were analyzed. The subjects of the class include understanding evaluation, the evaluation of the evaluation cases, and development of evaluative thinking. Student evaluation experience activities included "Analysis of Evaluation in Daily Life," "Evaluation on My Own," "Evaluate Library," "Development of Test Questions" and "Assessment Center Practice." The learners who participated in the class changed in a positive way, overcoming their fears of evaluation, using evaluative thinking in their daily lives, and getting used to questions and reflections. This study explored the meaning and value of evaluative thinking and found much potential for its future use in liberal arts classes.
