Abstract The first political corruption case in the history of Turkish Republic is known as "Yavuz-Havuz case". This case covers the events that resulted in Ihsan Bey, the Marine deputy, and his friends' trial processes in the Supreme Court and their imprisonment. The efforts for the repairment and reuse of the "Ship of the Turkish Republic Yavuz", one of the important symbols that has brought Turkey into World War I, has put the newly constructed Turkish government into a political crisis. This case besides creating problems among the five-year old republic and the political leaders, constituted one of the major turning points in the history of Turkish law.
