ABSTRACT: Wuthering Heights, the only novel written by the English writer Emily Brontë, has generated contradictory reactions that oscillate between fascination and repulsion among readers since its first publication in 1847. In this paper, two peculiar elements in its narrative structure are analyzed: the so-called "Gothic spatiality" which stands out in the description of its main scenario, -Wuthering Heights, the old and sinister house that provides the title of the novel -, and the composition of its protagonist, Heathcliff, who brings together all the characteristics of the villain, whose origins refer to the historical context of England and to monstrous creatures, among them the vampire that recurrently appears in gothic texts published in the nineteenth century.
