This article describe a special attention of modern native and foreign scientists and writers to a phenomenon of person A.P.Chehov. Different genres literary works on this theme both oriented trust to the document and the free essayist are characterized. The author pays attention to debatable questions of creation of classics' biographies, to degree of an admissibility of the subjective beginning in the offered concept.
