Abstract: This article will analyze new perspectives regarding the protection of individuals by the Inter American System of Human Rights. A brief historic of the Human Right's recognition will be made, and the first part of the essay will exam the possibility of direct access to the jurisdiction of the Inter American Court of Human Rights by comparing it to the European System of Human Rights, as well as analyzing recent developments in the American field, such as the possibility of the victim's manifestations. In the second part, the implicitly mandatory character of the Commission's recommendations will be addressed, as well as the role played by the Inter American Commission of Human Rights and the recent modifications on article 44 of its statute.
