Abstract: The transformation process takes place in Poland since 1989. Changes associated with this period of time are taking place in all areas, ie. social, political, economical and cultural. Within the social dimension of this process it means, according to Emile Durkheim, the transition from traditional society to a society of organic solidarity. The essence of the process is "being in the way." There is only a starting point, while the future appears uncertain. There is no doubt that Poland will seek full membership in the world of Western Europe, the result of which is likely to assimilate to other countries of the European Community in terms of economics and the law. The key question is: is it also becoming closer to them in terms of religion? The main aim of this article is to present the factors that affect the changes in the area of religion. These changes depend largely on the transition from traditional forms of religiosity, i.e. from church religiosity to selective religiosity or religion outside the church. Quoted survey research represent the approximate image of religiousness of Polish people.
