The capacity analysis based on the concept of collision domains may be applied to wireless networks with mesh topology, e.g. wireless backhaul networks for rural areas, sensor networks, etc. The strength of the method is the fact that it may be easily fitted to any MAC protocol, routing algorithm, channel allocation method, and, therefore, is a valuable tool for verification and performance analysis of such algorithms.
