Failure of Blast-Loaded Reinforced Concrete Slabs

The flexural response and failure of reinforced concrete rectangular slabs subjected to blast loading are investigated based on the rigid-plastic modelling. The effects of orthotropic reinforcement and asymmetric support bending restraints are incorporated to account for structural configurations and detailing. It is shown that the proposed analysis is capable of capturing the essential features of dynamic response of reinforced concrete slabs and provides a simple and efficient means for blast design and assessment of concrete slabs.
