The progress and further ways of development of new hydrocarbon resources in the Arctic coast of the Yamal Peninsula have been considered. It has been shown that the involvement of new resource areas in economic use must be based on the priority of achieving strategic objectives, be integrated and focused on the effects of technological modernization of the Russian economy. The adequate form of development can become the strategic mega-projects based mainly on domestic technology and equipment.
