The role of the ethnographer can be extremely demanding and challenging. This professional frequently experiences unexpected situations and feelings, which result in deep reflections and cause unpredictable problem resolution strategies to emerge. The ambiguities, difficulties, contradictions, challenges and possibilities that emerged from the experienced role led to the broadening of knowledge, an awareness of the multiple roles experienced, the importance of care development, the relevance of being accepted by the other, the sharing of experiences and the development of cultural competence. We consider that this role has changed us, promoting our growth as people and as researchers.
