In this study Faulkner's novel, The Sound and The Fury that is dealt with in terms of tragedy coming about after a central event that affects the characters in the novel. Being one of the most significant writers of 20 th century American Literature, Faulkner displays this event and the tragic characters by the help of stream of consciousness technique. This technique assists the reader to figure out the deterioration of the characters in the novel.
