Sustained virologic response (SVR) to the antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis C virus infection before liver transplantation (LT) can prevent graft infection. Pegylated (PEG)-interferon (IFN) may ameliorate the SVR, improving the risk-to-benefit ratio of antiviral therapy in cirrhotics awaiting LT.
