In this study, the toxic effects of ten food preservatives (sorbic acid, potassium sorbate, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, potassium acetate, sodium metabisulphite, potassium metabisulphite, sodium tetraborate, sodium sulphite and boric acid) on the longevity and percentage of survival were investigated. Wild type of Drosophila melanogaster was used in experiments. Third-instars larvae were treated of the test compounds at concentrations of 5ppm, 10ppm, 15ppm, 20ppm.
