A single-reduction wave has been observed with each metal Ion. It has been proved that pyruvate forms complexes of the type 1

The effect of pH, the nature of the electrode process and the reduction mechanism have been discussed. The stoichiometry of the complexes has been confirmed by conductometric titration.
