Ocelocoatl, « Snake-Jaguar », title given to the quacuilli, the old priest of Tlalloc, is a náhuatl word with a complex symbolism. On the one hand, it's the metaphor of the bag of yauhtli (oceloyataztli) and the censer (coatlemaitl) worn by the priests in the ritual ceremonies celebrated in honour of the gods of rain. On the other hand, it's also that of the awl (Ce-Ocelotl) which made blood spurt out of the veins of the penitents or of those who were sacrified. The blood offering, which was
