It is with some misgivings that I enter upon a discussion which involves questions of history. The teacher who seeks light does not usually look back upon the dingy past, but moves forward in the endeavor to catch the first rays of a new day. But in so doing he must not forget that a knowledge of the past experiences frequently enables him, when in the jungle, to recognize the points of the compass, and the direction toward the rising sun.
