The study aimed to shed light on the development of the current situation of the rabbit production in Egypt in general and in the Sharkia governorate in particular. Study the efficiency of the economic performance of rabbit production in Sharkia Governorate. Estimate the impact of production scale and the rabbit varieties on the production and the economic efficiency. Use the break-even point method to estimate the marginal levels of the most important technical and economic variables affecting

To achieve the objectives of the study; the published and unpublished secondary data from the Agriculture Directorate in Sharkia Governorate and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation have been used. Also the preliminary field data from conducted sample of 105 rabbit farms that were divided into three different scales. The study found the following most important results: (1) Sharkia Governorate occupies the first place in producing rabbits at the national level in the period 2016-2018. The average production of rabbits in Sharkia governorate reached about 22.43% in terms of actual production capacity. (2) By studying the indicators of the efficiency of the economic performance of producing rabbits with the selected sample. it was found that the profit of the pound spent in producing rabbits for the first scale (10 rabbit mothers) amounted to about 0.12 LE and in the second scale (18 rabbit mothers) it amounted to about 0.44 LE and in the third scale (32 rabbit mothers) it reached about 0.81 piasters. This reflects an increase in economic efficiency in using the available resources with an increase in the size of production scale. (3) The profit of the pound spent in Chanchilla variety and New Zealand variety amounted to 0.26 LE and 0.36 LE. While in the California and granite varieties, it amounted to about 0.77-0.89 LE. and the higher profitability of the pound spent in the production of the last two varieties may be its characteristics in production size and weight from the rest of the varieties, which made it used to mix it with another strain to improve production characteristics. (4) By using the break-even point method. The increased ability of the larger scales to bear the risk resulting from the decrease in the number of mothers in the breeder was found.
