THE ; CORRELATION OF MOTHER'S EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE ADVANTAGES OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING WITH THE MOTIVATION FOR GIVING EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING (Case Study at Puskesmas of Candilama Semarang)

ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Cakupan pemberian ASI eksklusif terendah di Kota Semarang pada tahun 2011 di Puskesmas Candilama yaitu sebesar 5,1 %. Ada banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi pemberian ASI eksklusif antara lain pendidikan, pengetahuan, ekonomi dan lingkungan. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan pendidikan dan pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang manfaat ASI eksklusif dengan motivasi untuk memberikan ASI eksklusif di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Candilama Kota Semarang Tahun 2012. more » ... s penelitian yang digunakan adalah analitik dengan rancangan crossectional dengan populasi 75 responden, sampel 58 ibu hamil di Puskesmas Candilama Kota Semarang pada bulan Juli-Agustus 2012. Variabel bebas pendidikan dan pengetahuan, variabel terikat motivasi. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara univariat dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji statistik Korelasi Pearson. Hasil: : Pendidikan responden terbanyak SMA yaitu 33 orang (56,9%), pengetahuan terbanyak pada kategori baik yaitu 20 orang (34,5%), sedangakn motivasi terbanyak pada kategori sangat baik yaitu 22 orang (37,9%). Analisis hubungan antara pendidikan dengan motivasi untuk memberikan ASI eksklusif diperoleh hasil penghitungan menggunakan Rank Spearman dengan nilai r = 0,558 dan diperoleh nilai p = 0,000 < p = 0,05(α). Analisis hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang manfaat ASI eksklusif dengan motivasi untuk memberikan ASI eksklusif diperoleh hasil penghitungan menggunakan Korelasi Pearson dengan nilai r = 0,694 dan diperoleh nilai p = 0,000 < p = 0,05(α). Simpulan: Ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pendidikan dan motivasi untuk memberikan ASI eksklusif. Ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang manfaat ASI eksklusif dengan motivasi untuk memberikan ASI eksklusif. Kata kunci : Pendidikan, pengetahuan dan motivasi ABSTRACT Background: The lowest scope of giving exclusive breastfeeding in Semarang on 2011 is found in Puskesmas (Community Health Center) of Candilama Semarang. That scope is 5,1%. There are many factors that influence the giving of exclusive breastfeeding, include educational background, level of knowledge, financial and environment. Propose: to know mother's educational background and knowledge of the advantages of exclusive breastfeeding with the motivation for giving exclusive breastfeeding in Puskesmas (Community Health Center) of Candilama Semarang) on 2012. Method: This is analytic research with cross-sectional approach. The population of research was 75 respondents; therefore the samples of research were 58 pregnant women as registered in Puskesmas (Community Health Center) of Candilama Semarang on July-August 2012. Independent variables were educational background and level of knowledge; while the dependent variable was motivation. The collected data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate with statistic test of Pearson correlation. Result: The most educational background found is SMA (Senior High School) as 33 women (56,9%). There are 20 (34,5%) women or most of respondents who have enough knowledge of giving exclusive breastfeeding. While, there are 22 women (37,9%) who have motivation to give exclusive breastfeeding. The result shows that the value of analyzing the relation of educational background with the motivation to give exclusive breastfeeding using Rank Spearman are r =0,558 and p = 0,000<0,05 (α). The result also shows that the value of analyzing the relation of pregnant mother's knowledge of the advantages of giving exclusive breastfeeding with their motivation to give exclusive breastfeeding using Pearson's correlation are r = 0,694 and p = 0,000 < p = http://jurnal.unimus.ac.id 0,05(α). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between educational backgrounds with the motivation to give exclusive breastfeeding. There is a significant correlation between the knowledge of pregnant mother of the advantages of giving exclusive breastfeeding with the motivation to give exclusive breastfeeding.
