Abstract This essay develops Benjamin´s conception of modernity as the return to the antique destiny and domination of chance. Baroque temporality -it is the hour of apparitions, because the spirits are ghosts with no history to whom time is spectral, in the middle of the way between what is real and what is unreal. From a political point of view, this is the time of the indetermination between democracy and absolutism, between the state of Right and the state of exception. The real state of exception is the utopia of a society without classes, without coercive power: the land of no Evil.
