The location and variation range of the length of damaged welds was determined on the grounds of test results on the type and size of damages to welded joints in powered roof support bases destined for repair. In the analysis of the effort of components of roof supports modeled by means of the finite elements method the impact of the length of the damages to the welds on the maximal value of reduced stresses was estimated.
