This work is concerned with the influence of oscillations in weakly hyperbolic operators on the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem. The fundamental solution to the Cauchy problem is constructed for the equations with oscillations in the coefficient very close to the ones destroying the C ∞ well-posedness.
