Many patients suffer of ascending aorta and/or root aneurysm with aortic valve insufficiency, due to ascending aorta dilatation. Frequently the cause of aneurysm are abnormalities in the aortic valve itself, as in the case of congenital aortic bicuspid valve. Many times the alteration in the valve is strictly functional, with anatomically preserved leaflets.
